Podere Le Querci (farm of the oaks in old Italian) is a thick walled Tuscan farm house built from local stone around 200 years ago, and set in 15 hectares of woodland and pastures. Situated on a ridge, it has spectacular views of the Merse valley and the rolling hills of the 'Colline Metallifere'. Here you can be sure of a relaxing holiday surrounded by green fields, olives groves, and fruit orchards. The apartments have been newly renovated with well equipped modern kitchens and bathrooms whilst retaining the original Tuscan features of terracotta floors and chestnut beamed ceilings. Each apartment has its own terrace where you can enjoy the sun or find the shade. Around the buildings are lemon trees and brightly coloured geraniums in pots, and flower beds of roses, jasmine and lavender. During the day you can explore the many places of interest within easy reach, enjoy walks through the countryside, or cool off in our small swimming-pool (4m wide and 1.20m deep). In the evening, enjoy a glass of local wine and a barbecue in the romantic, covered courtyard with its wood fireplace, play table tennis or have a go on the trampoline. All our apartments have their own heating so you can be sure of being warm and comfortable in the cooler months. Pio, Il Tino and La Scala are centrally heated and Il Seccatoio has a wood stove. Our organic vegetables, olive oil, freshly baked bread and home-made jams are available to our guests. As we are committed to an ecologically sustainable way of life, all our vegetables, fruit and olives are grown organically, we do not use chemicals in our swimming pool, and use solar panels to heat the water. |
